Your Realtor Should be Part of the Plan
Buying a home involves more than finding someone to unlock the front door.
A good realtor can help with neighborhoods, comparable sales, property condition, offer strategy, negotiations, inspections, contingencies, seller concessions and contractual deadlines.
And sometimes the best advice may be:
“I don't think this is the right house for you.”
Experience can certainly be valuable—but don't automatically overlook a recently licensed realtor.
A newer realtor with strong brokerage support, experienced mentorship and good resources may bring tremendous energy, preparation and time to your home search.
The question isn't simply:
“How many years have you been selling homes?”
Ask about communication, support, resources, availability and how they'll represent you throughout the transaction.
And make sure your Realtor and mortgage professional know each other.
A strong homebuying team can make a complicated process much easier to navigate.
