What if the Appraisal Comes in Low?
What Happens If the Home Appraises for Less Than You Offered?
It doesnβt happen all the time, but buyers should understand the possibility of an appraisal gap before making an offer.
If the appraised value comes in below the purchase price, that difference has to be addressed.
Depending on your purchase agreement, financing, and negotiations, the seller might agree to reduce the price, the buyer may need to bring additional money to closing, or another solution may be negotiated.
Thatβs why I believe your financing strategy should be established before your Realtor writes the offer.
If additional cash suddenly becomes necessary, you should understand how that affects your savings, financing, and overall homebuying plan before making a decision.
Know your numbers before you negotiate.
